Welcome to Brentwood Hospital in Louisiana
Located in Shreveport, Louisiana, Brentwood Hospital is the largest behavioral health treatment center in the state. We’ve been providing help and hope to people across Louisiana, Kansas and Arkansas since 1971. Offering mental health rehabilitation and substance abuse treatment, Brentwood Hospital supports patients age 4 and up. The private, comfortable environment may promote crisis resolution, self-awareness, positive social skills and personal growth through mental health services and programs.
Treatment Approach at Brentwood Hospital
The treatment model at Brentwood Hospital is informed by dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT can help patients begin the pathway to success by instilling foundational skills: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. Each patient can benefit from the development of these skills, which will continue supporting them through transitions from levels of care with other providers.
Within that DBT foundation, we can help patients develop a roadmap to change and help guide the connection between healthy thinking and behavior. Other therapeutic themes our programs may include are:
- Understanding your emotions
- Addictive behaviors
- Developing interpersonal goals
- Relationship enhancement
- Reframing unhelpful thoughts and beliefs
What is trauma-informed care?
Brentwood Hospital’s approach to trauma therapy is, in part, a holistic framework of care that includes personal development opportunities for staff and patients. Trauma care is provided through staff workshops, patient mindfulness, yoga programs and use of therapeutic environmental design. Patients also benefit from art, music and recreational interventions geared toward the enhancement of leisure skills and balance.
